Scream 4 official teaser trailer released

Scream 4 news is coming in blood thick and heavy. Following on from yesterday’s post about the Scream Awards footage being leaked, the official teaser trailer for the film has now been posted online and can be viewed above. It is essentially the same trailer shown in the footage yesterday with a few additional scenes fleshed out so you can get a better view of all the stabbings.

We see from the trailer that the role portrayed by Jamie Kennedy (Randy Meeks), who essentially explained horror movie clichés to both the audience and the protagonists in the film, is taken up by the two characters in the trailer explaining “modern horror”- burdening the task of bringing the Scream mythology to an entirely new generation. We assume they too will die horrible deaths.

Scream 4 stars a returning Neve Campbell, David Arquett and Courteney Cox alongside a new cast of young actors including Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Adam Brody, Alison Brie and Aimee Teegarden. Anna Paquin and Kirsten Bell have, what we assume will be, short-lived cameos.

The film opens April 14, 2011.

Scream 4 trailer leaked

At the recent Scream Awards, Scream 4 director Wes Craven and stars Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Emma Roberts took to the stage to premiere the first trailer for the slasher flick. The video leak isn’t the greatest of quality, but it is the first look we get of the franchise’s latest installment, set to open April 15th, 2011.

The Scream Awards air on Spike TV tonight at 9pm EST in the United States.

We eagerly await a high quality version of the trailer, but until then, you can see Neve Campbell talk about the return of the franchise and of course, the hand-held recording from the Awards taping above (via Collider). It’s all shaky camera work and lots of screaming.

New Scream 4 picture, Neve Campbell interview

Long dormant slasher series Scream is returning to the big screen in 2011.

Ten years since Scream 3, Wes Craven returns to direct one of modern cinemas most successful horror series, reigniting the movies that in 1996, gave a star turn to then young actors Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Jamie Kennedy, Matthew Lillard and Skeet Ulrich. Entertainment Weekly recently premiered the first photo still from the movie (seen here).

Scream 4 will see a return to the big-scream for Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox-Arquette and David Arquette. Joining them will be contemporary young stars Hayden Panettiere (Heroes, that champagne popping video), Emma Roberts (Julia’s niece), Alison Brie (Community), Adam Brody (that guy from The OC) and Aimee Teegarden (Friday Night Lights).

Kevin Williamson (who wrote Scream, Scream 2 and co-wrote Scream 3) returned to write the fourth installment. No word as of yet regarding plot but we can safely assume that there will be many self-referential moments, movie-in-movie scenes, people who we thought were already dead, and Anna Paquin and Kristen Bell cameos (we are also sure they will both be dead within the first 10 minutes of the film).

Scream 4 is slated to hit cinemas April 15, 2011. Neve Campbell recently sat down with Entertainment Tonight to talk about the latest installment, how it was being back on set, and the success of the previous films. You can view the video below.
