Trailer watch: Drinking Buddies

Beer. Liquid courage, the elixir of life, and the catalyst for many a great and catastrophic relationship. Drinking Buddies is a new comedy starring Olivia Wilde, Jake Johnson, Ron Livingston, and Anna Kendrick that tells the story of two intertwined couples as they go through the ups and downs, ins and outs, of being couples. Beer, being among the common threads between them.

Directed by Joe Swanberg (Uncle Kent), the film premiered at this year’s South By Southwest Festival and will see limited release in the United States this August.

Trailer watch: Cowboys & Aliens

The extraterrestrial invasion hits the wild wild west with the Jon Favreau-directed Cowboys & Aliens!

The first trailer for the upcoming graphic novel adaptation hits the web and is everything you’d expect from the title. Starring Daniel Craig (Casino Royale) as Jake Lonergan, the film is about a loner with no memory of his past. He finds himself in the town of Absolution with an unknown shackle around his wrist, and has to deal with the hostility of the town’s hard-nosed Colonel (Harrison Ford). Soon enough, he learns that the town is in far greater danger when it is attacked by aliens. Now former enemies have to team up to repel the invading force.

Co-starring Olivia Wilde and Sam Rockwell, the film is slated to open during a busy blockbuster summer; July 29, 2011.

Cowboys & Aliens was produced by Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and Steven Spielberg and was penned by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof. Robert Downey Jr. was originally set to play the lead role but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.

Next summer is looking to be one of the biggest, most competitive blockbuster seasons we’ve seen in recent memory as superheroes battle boy wizards and giant transforming robots and space aliens! It’s the kind of summer we love.

Trailer watch: New Tron Legacy

The third and final trailer for Disney’s anticipated Tron Legacy has now been unveiled.

The new trailer reveals more of the film’s plot, giving you the first real glimpse of Jeff Bridges’ dual role in the film along with added action scenes and a better understanding of the situation the young Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund) finds himself in.

It continues to showcase Tron Legacy’s immense special effects and the visually stunning landscape it paints. Plus it never hurts to see more of Olivia Wilde in her Tron getup.

Expect the film to open to significant numbers come December 17.

New Tron Legacy clip features Olivia Wilde light running

Walt Disney Pictures have posted a short 1-minute clip from the anticipated Tron Legacy film scheduled to hit cinemas December 17, 2010.

The clip features Olivia Wilde and Garrett Hedlund (playing Sam Flynn- the son of Kevin Flynn from the original) speeding around in a “Light Runner”. You can’t see a lot, but the dark visuals and the amazing use of lights stands out pretty great. Any enthusiast of visual cinema would do themselves an injustice if they don’t check it out come December.

Tron Legacy is the sequel to 1982 science fiction flick Tron, itself an advanced and revolutionary piece of computer graphics enhanced filmmaking. The long awaited sequel features Jeff Bridges reprising his role as computer programmer Kevin Flynn and follows the story some twenty years later when his son Sam, discovers that his long lost father has in fact, been trapped inside the program he created.
