Trailer watch: Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon

The first trailer for Michael Bay’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon has made its anticipated debut online. It looks like the future lies in the past as we are once again taken back into man’s quest to break the boundaries of space. This time we revisit Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin’s famed moon-landing.

We discover that the moon-landing was an attempt at understanding the origins of an alien craft that had crashed on the moon. Internet chatter points to the Transformer as being Alpha Trion. If we are to believe the canonical plot, where does this fit into what we see in the first film? Was he, like Megatron, seeking the All Spark that had left Cybertron during the war? What about the events of the second film? (Perhaps, we just pretend the second film never really happened).

Similar to the original teaser of the first film, we can see a return to the global intrigue and collective importance of what may or may not unfold through the film. If Michael Bay, like Shia LeBeouf has said, aims to rekindle that initial interest, this trailer is certainly a step in the right direction.

Check out the trailer above, and let the countdown to July 1st begin.

First Transformers 3 teaser poster arrives

It appears that we are only hours away from the first official trailer for Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon and the excitement is officially palpable. But for now, have revealed the first teaser poster for the Michael Bay film, the third and final in the Transformers series. It really isn’t much, and looks like a shoddy Photoshop job, but with the trailer just around the corner, you can expect the frequency of the unnecessary updates to begin. You can check it out below.

On another note, Ain’t It Cool News recently visited the set of the film as well and reported back about 3D, the cast and more. You can read the lengthy write-up here.

Dark of the Moon is expected in cinemas July 1st, 2011.

Official Transformers 3 logo and website unveiled

The official logo and website for the third and final Transformers film are now online. The logo, above, is a sharpened, more metallic branding of the series, revealing the official titling of the film.

The new website is for now, just a placeholder, with nothing more than the logo and the opportunity for fans to sign up for updates, but expect it to become interactive and extensive as the release date draws near.

Entertainment Tonight recently did a ‘Behind-the-scenes’ look at the filming, speaking to star Shia LeBeouf about the substance of the film and how there will be an “emotional love story” different to that of the second. Through the reel, we see that Michael Bay has not lost any of his explosive touch, blowing up half of downtown Chicago during the process. You can view the clip from ET below.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon is slated to hit cinemas July 1st, 2011.

Transformers 3 plot exposed; Shockwave involved

The synopsis for the final Transformers film has been revealed.

Slashfilm reports that the third chapter of the saga, titled The Dark of the Moon, will revolve around the space race between the United States and Russia (1960s? 1980s?) while an old Decepticon foe, Cybertron commander Shockwave, will join the fold. Here is the supposed plotline for the film;

The Autobots Bumblebee, Ratchet, Ironhide and Sideswipe led by Optimus Prime, are back in action, taking on the evil Decepticons, who are determined to avenge their defeat in 2009’s Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. In this new movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends. There’s new characters too, including a new villain in the form of Shockwave, a longtime Transformers character who rules Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth.”

The Michael Bay directed film has been blighted by some shooting problems these past few months, including on-set injuries and an accident involving Bumblebee and a speeding police car.

Regardless of all the drama and off screen issues, we hope Michael Bay sends off this franchise with a collective, crater-sized, explosive bang and that Shia LeBeouf is right.

Transformers: The Dark of the Moon is scheduled for release July 1st, 2011.
