Darren Aronofsky hopes to make Machine Man after Wolverine

With Black Swan currently whetting psycho-thriller enthusiasts, Darren Aronofsky has already made plans for his next, next film. Once Black Swan makes its theatrical debut this December, Aronofsky will begin work on the sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine in March, but has disclosed interest in making a film based on a book by Max Berry.

The proposed film, Machine Man, will see him re-team with Black Swan co-writer Mark Heyman who previously worked with Aronofsky on The Wrestler.

Sources indicate that Machine Man will be a “cyber thriller” about an average engineer who is unhappy with his own physical shortcomings. He then creates cybernetic parts to enhance his frame but soon realizes more sinister motives behind those around him.

Details indicate the film is still far from production, which means Aronofsky can concentrate on the Wolverine sequel. Star Hugh Jackman has high hopes for the new director’s vision;

Aronofsky’s going to make it fantastic. There’s going to be some meat on the bones. There will be something to think about as you leave the theater, for sure.”

Yes, meat on them adamantium bones. That is what the film will most definitely need.
